Do you think it might be a small pine tree? It's in the right area - I've found a few around here. It just doesn't make any sense for it to be a hakea.

Pine needles are in groups of 3 (for Pinus radiata which is the commonest around the ACT).

Yes, Pinus radiata is what we have in AB - there was a patch that was removed years ago and I keep finding little ones. I don’t think it is P radiata but I don’t think it’s a hakea either.

They have been found at Majura, Bruce and Red Hill, so why not AB? Must be birds? Do I just leave it and let it grow? Mind you it was so small I’m not sure I’d find it again even with coordinates. It will be another one to increase AB’s species richness score if someone rediscovers it and identifies it one day.

I know it’s out of range, but could this be persoonia pinifolia? If so, it flowers late winter/spring. I’ll visit it. I thought of it because Ciaran thought one of Cath’s recent mystery plants might be a species of persoonia (but not pinifolia).

Actually, there is a sighting near Milton and currawongs travel everywhere in the eastern part of Australia.
